We survived a month!
Stats:
- 9 lb 9 oz (42%)
- 21.5 inches long (63% – we measured 22 at home, it’s not an exact science…)
- 38 cm head circumference (73%)
Interesting Tidbits
New things:
- Ivan is making eye contact
- He smiles
- He outgrew his newborn clothes
- He is losing his hair on top – epic receding hairline. So far the hair underneath is a clear/blonde peach fuzz.
- He met all his grandparents, Aunt Courtney and cousin Natalie, and lots of Boston friends.
- This month, we think he looks mostly like Emily, with Mike’s mouth and ears, possibly Mike’s skin tone. We are guessing blonde hair and blue eyes, though his eyes change from light blue to dark grey regularly.
Ivan Loves:
- his Ergo carrier
- being bounced on an exercise ball
- cuddling chest to chest
- Staring out the window
- laying alone on our bed (too much baby holding makes for an unhappy baby)
- staring at our faces
- eating… he eats for so long…
- laying on his side
Ivan Hates:
- his carseat
- riding the car
- being in his stroller too long
- (those first three might all be the same hatred of carseat)
- having even the smallest amount of poop in his diaper… he demands cleanliness, and he demands it NOW.
- tummy time, unless it’s on a human, then he loves tummy time.
Things we’ve learned this month:
- We are total baby wearing believers. This kid loves his carrier, it is a miracle worker on fussiness.
- Ivan doesn’t really take a pacifier, maybe because we don’t give it to him unless he’s really upset, and then nothing helps. But, Mike learned that if you shush him while holding a pacifier in his mouth, he’ll take it, and calm down, sometimes.
- Bouncing on the exercise ball is magical
- A rocking chair is only calming for the momma, not the baby.
