12 months!

I’m a little late posting this, but we finally have Ivan’s 12 month update!  I can’t believe he is already a year.  He’s learning so much, at 12.5 months he’s already doing so much more than he was the day he turned 1.

Interesting Tidbits

  • crawling! everywhere, all the time
  • cruises around holding onto furniture, can change directions and can move to new pieces of furniture
  • stands up in his crib
  • sometimes throws things at us to wake us up in the morning (usually his pacifiers)
  • walks holding our hands, only needs to hold one hand
  • still loves drumming
  • learned how to play harmonica (he’s working on a Bob Dylan tribute band)
  • knows where we store his tunnel, pulls it out and talks loudly until we pop it out for him to play
  • sleeps through the night, sometimes stays up way too late
  • his hair is growing so fast, it is over his eyes. We have cut it a few times and it is still in his eyes
  • says: mama, up, uh oh
  • does the ‘up comes the sun’ motion of ‘the itsy bitsy spider’ and claps his hands at the end
  • shakes his head no and waves goodbye and hello
  • gives kisses on command (only in spanish)
  • crawls to us on command, sometimes (only in spanish)
  • understands ‘no’ when we say it to him.
  • has 7 teeth (4 on bottom, 3 on top)
  • “helps” while putting his clothes on (bends and straightens arm, legs, holds his feet out for socks)
  • plays at the playground, scoots himself to the edge of slide to go down
  • loves the swings, seems to get a little woozy on the swings after a while
  • loves music, dances
  • the separation anxiety is still STRONG
  • LOVES seeing himself in the mirror
  • doing better with daycare drop off (doesn’t cry most days as long as his teachers are near)
  • is being quite a picky eater this month
  • crawls himself into small spaces (under desk, under chairs, under crib or beds). We think he is really going to love forts one day
  • went to Cape Cod for the first time
  • had his first birthday cupcake (complete with a party hat and a pink lei
  • went to his Uncle Clay’s wedding

Ivan Loves:

  • looking at himself in the mirror
  • banging on things
  • hitting toys together to make loud noise
  • reading books
  • music, being sung to
  • the sounds of the coffee grinder

Ivan Hates:

  • when we leave the room
  • being left anywhere
  • when we take dangerous things away from him
