Ivan got his flu shot today. The office was so efficient that they called our name as soon as we walked into the pediatric waiting area and we had to go by the fish without saying “hi.” Ivan got his shot, screamed, smiled for stickers and I asked if he wanted to go back to say hello to the fish. He hopped right off my lap and walked down the hallway we came in and out the door, marched right up to the fish and started babbling. He is simultaneously in love with and a little afraid of the fish, their sudden movement seems to scare him.
If you listen closely towards the end you can hear him say ‘ish’ which is what he calls fish. Though mostly he was in the mood for grunting and screaming today, not so into words. Except for ‘dada’ which he never used to say but this week is his favorite. In the car today he said (adorably) ‘dada BYEeeeeee, dada BYEeeeee’ over and over again on the way to the doctors office. (Mike puts Ivan in his car seat in the mornings on my way to daycare/work so I think getting into his car seat makes him think of this :))
