Ivan was over my crawling exercise
This is up there on the list of my favorite photos. The colors, the mess from lunch, Ivan. We are trying to encourage Ivan to crawl and he really wanted those puffs. He did attempt to get there, stuck his butt up in the air, flapped his arms and legs at the same time… but then he gave up and just rolled around on the floor.

Interesting Tidbits
- Ivan is starting to feed himself food (as seen above with the raspberries all over)
- learning to drink water from a sippy cup
- sits unassisted without a pillow
- tries to crawl but still not there (lots of face planting)
- no new teeth (still just has two bottom teeth)
- loves eating purees
- claps (mostly when eating – he loves eating)
- does the “pat it” motion when we do Patty Cake
- says ma ma, da da, ba ba, yeaaaaa (no association to particular people or things)
- has had SO many colds this winter
- his separation anxiety is kicking in
- Ivan is starting to look more like Mike, but still has Emily’s hair, eyes, skin tone (and maybe small feet)
Ivan Loves:
- eating
- feeding himself
- playing on his “drum” (an old popcorn tin from his Grandpa Frank)
- chewing on his favorite teethers (more teeth are coming!)
- reading books
- holding hands
- chewing on phones/ipods/etc.
- pays very close attention when Mike when he’s doing things
Ivan Hates:
- being left alone
- putting on shirts (sleeves)
- when he can see his bottle, but he is not drinking it yet
Things we’ve learned this month:
- Teething sucks
- Ivan is remembering activities / games that we play

Interesting Tidbits
- Ivan is getting a bit of an attitude and lets us know when he doesn’t like something, but he is happy most of the time
- Sits and does not fall over
- Ivan rolls over both ways – can make some distance in the room just from rolling
- Two teeth
- Eats lots of purees – his favorite is peas.
- He is saying more syllables – strings them together (gagadada is his favorite)
- He is talkative mostly when alone, or with just one person. Immediately stops if someone else starts talking to him (so polite)
- stopped sleeping through the night this month, but is getting better
- Was too sick for his surgery in December; rescheduled for January 22
- Cries when he sees me at daycare (until I pick him up)
- Loves his daycare teachers (lights up for them)
- First Christmas
- Got a real crib for Christmas!
- This month we still think he looks like Emily – but clearly has mike’s jaw line, ears, long legs, and mouth – blonde, fuzzy, curly hair.
Ivan Loves:
- chewing on things
- his Sophie
- reading books
- holding hands
- stroller rides
- cuddling
- finding a screen that lights up
- watches
Ivan Hates:
- being left alone
- putting on shirts (sleeves)
- being strapped in his carseat or stroller
- when he can see his bottle, but he is not drinking it yet
- food with any texture
Things we’ve learned this month:
- Teething sucks
- We like Nosefrida, Ivan does not
