34 weeks

Ever since the ‘weeks to go’ number went below 10, I’ve started to feel a little panicked about how little time is left!  Our new apartment has needed quite a bit of work, so we’re upping the apartment work ante and trying to get everything done before the baby comes.

We’ve successfully completed our birthing classes, which were super helpful. We went on a tour of the hospital… We have most of our baby essentials.  Emotionally we’re ready, and excited to meet this little one.  Baby C just needs to work on getting fat and hanging out until it’s go time!

I’m starting to believe this little one is a stretcher and kicker, not a gentle mover. The baby movements I feel are often quite hard and intense – sometimes I get surprised and lose my breath for a moment. There’s very little of the cutesy “I’m just moving around and wiggling for you momma!”

I’m starting to feel HUGE, but thankfully we’re still sleeping well, and feeling fine during the days.  It’s been a huge help to have Mike around more (post-defense and pre-postdoc) to coddle me, help me with housework, and just to get to spend some good quality time together.  This morning, I wasn’t feeling great, so Mike got me a floofy drink from JP Licks and delivered it to my work.  When I was riding the elevator back up, a few women I work with were gushing about how cute he was.  I couldn’t agree more 🙂

30 weeks

It’s hard to believe we only have ~10 weeks left until due date!  I’m finally starting to ‘feel’ pregnant, and I’m starting to run out of room in my abdomen.  Mike and I are pretty convinced that this baby stretches a lot, because although I occasionally feel the tickling of gentle movement, I mostly feel a tiny object pushing for a few minutes up in my right rib, off to my right side or to the left of my belly button.  We’re looking forward to seeing what this movement looks like when baby is on the outside!

We passed!

Good news! We passed our glucose test, and are officially cleared of gestational diabetes =)

The tests for my red blood cell count and hemoglobin on the other hand were low – so, I’m a tad bit anemic.  My midwife says the baby is probably fine since I’m just a little under the recommended limits – which means Mike and I are going to add some red meat to our diet (and daily green smoothies – because greens are an excellent source of iron).   Since I’ve been super busy, lazy, tired, etc… Mike has been taking over the smoothie/blender responsibilities. My iron and regularity thank him for his patience with me and his commitment to getting veggies back in our life!

My countdown below says we have 79 days left til due date.  Where did all that time go?

27 weeks

Excuse the mess and unmade bed… I always feel so sleepy after work that I never remember to take a picture, so I grabbed one on my way out the door.

Happy beginning of third trimester!!! (depending which source you are using to judge trimesters…)

I also added a counter for Mike and I at the bottom of the blog – 92 days til due date 🙂

23.5 weeks

Despite an incredibly stressful and emotional week, this little baby is still going strong, growing, kicking, squirming, and that is a blessing.  I’m pretty sure we had our first bit of in utero hiccups, which has happened a few times this week, it’s pretty amusing.  it’s pretty easy to see that I’m finally putting on some pounds (the stress eating of donuts doesn’t help).  Baby is the length of an ear of corn, and between 1-1.5 pounds. Mike felt his first kicks last week, and  I’ve started to have some hip/back pain.

Only 16ish more weeks to cook 🙂

Registering

We went to Target today to get our registry started – and the guy behind the counter very confidently handed us a wedding registry welcome package.  I’ll take it as a compliment that he thought we looked too young to be having a baby, and that I didn’t look way pregnant 🙂
